July 7th, 2009: After over seven years of not releasing any new music, I wouldn’t even take my updates seriously at this point. Basically, what it comes down to
June 27th, 2009: It kind of depresses me that I made my first post about this album over two months ago and I only have one song on the album completely finished. I have a serious problem with perfection and I can’t keep a take if I hear anything wrong with it. I can spend two hours recording the same verse and still find something in it that I know I can do better. Well, goddammit, I don’t know why I put myself through so much torture when I’m not planning to make a career out of this shit. It’s really something I just do as a hobby and for personal therapy, and if other people happen to like it, that’s just an added bonus. So from here on forward, I’m saying “fuck it.” I’m going to record my songs, finish them, and move forward. I’m never going to release the album if I keep focusing on what I can do better. I guess I’ll just let time and the next project show my continuing improvement on the mic. I will release Leaving Las Vegas on September 15th, 2009 even if it kills me.April 24th, 2009: My new album will be called Leaving Las Vegas and should be ready for release sometime in summer 2009.
June 26th, 2009: In response to my sister’s comment… I’m calling my album Leaving Las Vegas for a variety of reasons. First of all, there was a great film of the same name starring Nicholas Cage as an alcoholic that goes to Vegas to drink himself to death. Since my album deals with my bout with alcoholism, it seemed like a fitting title. Not only that, but gambling played a big role in my road to rock bottom… so when I titled my album this, I’m thinking of the similarities between myself and Nic Cage’s character in the film and also about leaving my battle with gambling and debt behind me… hence, Leaving Las Vegas.

Why the title Leaving Las Vegas? Hopefully not anything to do with how you last left Las Vegas?!

Look forward to hearing your new material. After what I heard the other day, you’ve definitely got some serious skills when it comes to putting rhymes together. Oh, and don’t beat yourself up over the time it takes you to put your cd together. If anything, it shows people that you truly care about your craft and aren’t willing to settle on putting out a half-assed effort. The most important thing is that YOU are happy with the end product, regardless of how long it takes.
